My #1 rule for photo taking is to:
Have fun! Yes, that’s right. It has nothing to do with using your camera, settings or light. It is so simple. I find the most important thing to getting great photographs is to make sure I’m having fun. If you’re enjoying yourself, it’s likely to show in your pictures! When I have a bad day out in the field, it definitely is conveyed in my work that day. It can truly make the difference in a photograph. Yes, getting the shot is important, but make sure to take the time to enjoy the scene. Don’t be so focused on a good picture that you don’t appreciate your surroundings. Also, be thankful that you have the opportunity to even be where you are. Go ahead and pinch yourself; enjoy the moment. Your pictures and stories will benefit.
