Full Moon and Sunrise over the Flatirons

Full Moon and Sunrise over the Flatirons

With the most recent full moon I decided to brave the cold and head out in the early morning hours for a sunrise shoot.  I knew the moon would be setting over the beautiful Rocky Mountains just as the sun was rising.  It was only 6 degrees outside, but I think it was worth the cold.  I got out there early enough to catch this beautiful purple and pink haze that glowed as the sun got higher.  I was really taken aback at the beauty and peacefulness on this cold December morning. Sunrise hitting the FlatironsI was in awe as the sun hit the snowy peaks in the background and turned them bright pink!  I think I was actually so in awe that I didn’t snap too many photos during that brief period.  There is one below that shows the back mountains slightly pink.  I was also trying to keep my poor fingers warm.  Even with gloves on they were cold.  Standing still in such frigid temperatures makes it hard to keep warm in general.  I eventually wrapped a scarf around my left hand which I wasn’t using the take the photos and managed to keep it warmer that way. The last shot I captured with the full sun and the moon just peaking out from behind the mountains.  Such a cold morning, but very worth it.
