Blue BikeI had an amazing time visiting a new area for me in Colorado, Crested Butte!  Stayed at the hostel in town which was pretty decent.  We had a private room for the 3 of us which included a queen and a bunk bed.  The bathroom was clean and had multiple showers, toilets, sinks.  The kitchen was large and well stocked!  Perfect for keeping some breakfast items before we headed out for the day. Paintbrush LandscapeYou’ll pass by beautiful Emerald Lake, then go over Schofield Pass.  The trailhead is not too far after the pass.  It is a well marked and easy to follow trail which starts out along a creek.  It quickly gets up above tree line with beautiful mountain vistas, waterfalls, fields of wildflowers and breathtaking scenery all around you.  We did run into a bear not too far into the trail, so be aware and keep your dog on leash!  The bear got scared and ran up a pine tree. The road through the AspenDay two involved hiking up trail 403 to Washington Gulch.  It is a difficult STEEP hike up and up.  The views were breathtaking as you climbed higher.  We didn’t make it too far on the trail, but definitely enjoyed the vistas.  Next up was driving out Kebler Pass to Ohio Pass Rd and stopping at the Beaver Pond Trail.  The ride out was amazing as you are in an aspen forest.  The aspen are beautiful and tall.  The trail was through an aspen forest to the pond.  Certainly not a long or difficult trail, but the flies were so bothersome!  We sprayed ourselves with bug spray and that did help, but didn’t eliminate them.  The reflection at the pond was gorgeous and it was a perfect spot for lunch. License Plate SidingAfternoons and evenings were spent in town (Crested Butte) enjoying a coffee and the many galleries and shops.  Such a cute town.  We enjoyed the many cruisers, the historic buildings and looking at the art.  I highly recommend Ginger Cafe for dinner if you like Asian food.  It has Thai and Indian options all of which were flavorful and delicious!  The veggie spring rolls were fresh, and tasty.  I even indulged in a ginger martini which I do recommend if you don’t have to drive anywhere afterwards. Crested Butte Historic BuildingsOverall, Crested Butte is a gorgeous place to visit, mountain bike, hike, take a scenic drive and take in the beauty of nature!
