Voted Photo of the week

Super exciting to see my wolf photo voted as photo of the week as part of the North American Nature Wildlife and Landscape Photographers Association for July 13-19.  What an honor to have other photographers choose my photo from all the amazing photographs that get posted.  I must admit this photo is one of my favorites from my most recent trip to Yellowstone National Park.  It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience to see the wolves up close and personal!  I was in awe and on a cloud that whole day!   Yellowstone Wolf A little about the experience capturing this photo….If you ask me the trick to seeing them, go often and spend all your time looking for them.  It is about being in the right place at the exact right time.  Winter is easier to find them as they do venture closer to the road.  I also found it helpful to get out EARLY, as in get out to the area at sunrise!  Yes, it’s early, but totally worth it when one happens to be walking down the road at you!  Have your gear ready to go!  If wolves are close, you do not want to have to get your camera ready.  If you do hesitate, you might miss your opportunity.  Days can be long and tedious when wolf watching, but it’s all worth it.  Well, I felt it was worth it for the experience.  Be prepared with warm clothing and something to protect your camera in case of snow.  It might help to have some friends with you to entertain each other during dull times.  Trust me there is plenty of hanging around waiting for wolves.  It is no easy task, but the experience is awesome! Here’s the original for anyone who missed out. Wolf Stare
