Was out at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge recently where there lives a herd of buffalo. This big guy freaked me out by almost charging at my car. You are allowed to drive through part of their enclosure and it’s a gamble if they will be there or out in the field. Well, last week a few big bulls were near the road. Naturally, I was excited and I parked my car on the side of the road giving them plenty of distance. Well, one decided to approach me and stood about 15 ft. from my windshield huffing and puffing at me. I took it as a sign to back up! Thankfully, none of them were behind me and I was able to get some distance between us because I don’t think that would have worked out too well for me. I always try to observe the animals behavior and move out of the way should they not feel comfortable. I thought I had given him enough distance before he started to walk towards me. I got this great shot out of it and a fun story to share.
