Marmots on Mt. Evans

Marmots on Mt. Evans

I had such a great time on Mt. Evans last time I went up that I decided to go again.  Well, this time was a disappoint for goats because they weren’t out anywhere.  However, I was still able to enjoy myself because I found lots of marmots to photograph.  I never realized how cute they actually can be!  They were posing for me this morning with food, babies, and grinning with their crazy large teeth.  I really enjoyed watching the baby marmots be playful just like my two dogs.  They were tumbling and nipping at one another.  So fun to catch this scene and see mom not too far away keeping an eye on her babies. Marmot LookoutIf you’re wondering where to find these marmots, you certainly don’t need to look very hard.  As you drive up Mt. Evans in Colorado, you’ll see them on the sides of the road and sometimes they will even cross the road right in front of your car.  Most of them are pretty scared of you and will run and hide the moment you approach.  If you want to get close, pull off at one of the dirt areas where it’s safe to do so and shut off you car.  Pick a rock to hang out on and I think you’ll see some marmot up close and personal.  Marmot Eating a Leaf
