Wildlife in winter really amazes me. These bighorn sheep struggle just to walk through the deep snow. Then there is the struggle to find enough food in winter. Really amazing how wildlife can survive such extreme temperatures and settings. Seeing bighorn sheep in the deep snow was special. Making it extra special was the number of rams in this herd. Usually the only time I have found rams with the herd is during the rut. These guys were all hanging out together in February! I mean at least 10 rams together and some of them with very large horns (meaning they are quite old). I enjoyed watching them walk through the deep snow and capturing their legs fully buried. Have you ever experienced your legs totally falling into the deep snow? If you have, you know how much of a struggle it is to walk like that. I guess it helps to have 4 legs instead of only 2.
