I was out in search of photographing birds recently. I found an osprey nest and had pulled over to watch the nest and wait for any possible behavior (flying, etc.). I patiently waited in my car with the windows down so I didn’t disturb the birds. All of a sudden I hear lots and lots of calling and not from the osprey. I check around and sure enough there were 2 killdeer nearby. I was able to get out of the car at this point, but I stayed very close to the car. I didn’t want to disturb them. It was so great to watch them fly around and call to each other. They would occasionally land nearby. After a while the 2 killdeer were enjoying the field and a large puddle that had formed in it from all the rain. I really enjoyed watching this one take a bath in the water. So cute and fun. What a sweet little bird and a cute pair. Sometimes I just get lost in taking photos and lose track of time and place. I was parked on the side of a road, but I rarely noticed a car go by. Instead I was too engrossed in enjoying these 2 beautiful birds go about their daily business. What fun! Do you ever get lost in what you are doing and lose track of your surroundings and time?
