On a recent snow day I decided to go to one of my favorite places for spotting wildlife, Rocky Mountain Arsenal. It was an okay day. Nothing special was showing its face to me. Then the snow started to get heavier, so I thought it was time to head home. On my way out I spotted something running alongside the road. Much to my surprise I determined it was a skunk! That’s right, a skunk! I stayed put in my car and was able to grab a few photographs before it wandered off into the field of grass. 
Here’s where my photographer brain kicked in and I decided to head around to the other side of the field in hopes that the skunk would make its way in that direction. I figured it didn’t hurt anything to give it a shot. Low and behold, as I arrived the skunk was just about to emerge from the snowy, grassy field! My heart started racing and my face broke out in a huge smile. It was so exciting! At this point I was able to capture quite a few fun photos of this little skunk in the grass and running across the road right in front of me! This really made my day! It’s not every time you go out in search of wildlife that you have such luck. I’m still excited when I look through these photos. I love the snow as it really adds an element in my opinion.
