I took a quick trip to Portland, Oregon recently and was amazed by the beautiful, breathtaking scenery! Living in Colorado we don’t the green lush environment found in the Pacific Northwest and it blew me away with its natural beauty. I didn’t mind the rain, clouds and fog as it lent itself to the scenery. Ok, I didn’t mind the sunshine either. I think I got really lucky to have seen this amazing sunrise in the Columbia River Gorge. I don’t think the clouds always line up like this to create the color and reflections in the river. It really amazed me! I loved the entire Columbia River Gorge and the scenery it offered. It felt like you could spend days hiking and exploring the area. There were waterfalls everywhere and trails to be had from all the parking areas. I do suggest going early on the weekends as it can get very crowded. I was lucky enough to visit this area twice in the few days I was in scenic Portland. I loved the morning with no visitors. It allowed me to take in the beauty and scenery without the distraction of hundreds of other people. I could listen to the gushing water from the falls including the famous Multnomah Falls. I could hike the trails with no one to disturb me. Have you been to Portland and the scenic Columbia River Gorge? What’s your favorite trail or waterfalls?
